Purpose: Nowadays, laparoscopic herniorrhaphy took root for usual procedure for repair of inguinal hernia in the western. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness and advantage of laparoscopic herniorrhaphy through the
analysis of initial 20 patients who underwent a totally extraperitoneal approach.
Method: A retrospective review of 20 patients who underwent a laparoscopic herniorrhaphy; totally extraperitoneal approach, was performed by author between Decemer 2000 and February 2002. All cases had done under general endotracheal
anesthesia,
and instead of balloon dilatator, Only Peanut dissector and 0 telescope were used to make preperitoneal space.
Results: In 20 patients, 23 hernies had been reparied by TEP approach. Mean time was 82.8 27.9min. But after initial 15 cases, which resulted within 65 min, it has no such differences with previous open methods. 3 patients has
complications,
they were two hydroceles and one hematoma, and they all happeded in first 10 patients group. All patients with complication were recovered within 2 days and could discharge the next 1 or 2 days. Mean admission were 1.6 1.8 days and 11 patients
could
discharge the next day of the operation. In follow up via phone and OPD patient, there were no other complications.
Conclusions: The totally extraperitoneal approach for laparoscopic herniorrhaphy allows for a safe and effective repair with low rates of complication and recurrence and recurrence with a cosmetic effect, a thorough Konw-how in the aspect
of
technique and adequate cost to patients, addition enough follow-up periods.
